The City of Sacramento

Sacramento, California is a wonderful place to live if you can afford to do so. It does have a higher cost of living than other places in the United States. Let me share some of the demographics of Sacramento, California.

Sacramento is a very pleasant place to live or visit. It has a Mediterranean climate that is optimum for both living and agriculture. Some of the finest wines to date grow there. It is truly a treasure for anyone that has the opportunity to be there. So if you like a place that has a wonderful climate for gorgeous foliage, Sacramento is the place for you.

Sacramento is the capital of California. It is also the county seat for Sacramento County. It is not a small city by any standard. Don’t get me wrong. It is a really nice place to settle if you have a business lifestyle. It has a wonderful nightlife as well. It basically feels like a small town with all of the benefits of a big town.

The estimated population as of October 24th, 2009 is 454,330. Those demographics consists of about 4 people for every square mile of land. It has 48 percent white, 28 percent non-hispanic whites, 15 percent black and 17 percent Asians. That’s fairly well balanced for a city that is a capital.

The cost of living is fairly high. The average cost of living is on average 40 percent higher than other places in the United States. Compared to most places in the United States it is costly to live there. It is great when you visit though. You get to see a place that has wonderful wines, great people and a fantastic California climate.

You can take in a game locally for baseball, basketball and football. You can have a drive through the wines tour or hike for the day. Camping is located just outside of the city. So you can even get away from the city proper itself. All of that makes it a really nice place to see. If you can justify paying a bit more for your cost of living, it even makes a great place to live.

Housing and taxes are fairly high. Based on the recent census the median income is about $43,000. The job market is decent. There are definitely places that have a better job market than Sacramento. UC Davis Medical Center is world renowned for its quality of education. You have to really work hard to get accepted in the school. The neighborhoods are well divided according to houses. There is an older district and a college town part of the city. The government areas are the reason most people come to live in Sacramento. It is really lovely.

Crime is low in Sacramento, California. It is lower by two percent than other areas in the state of California. Compared to other parts of the United States, Sacramento, California is lower than average by about 5 percent. That is really nice for a family. Especially when you see that violent crime there is the lowest in the state. While other rural areas may be slightly lower by a 1 percent, the crime rate is really low for a capital city.

Transportation is really well developed for the city. Most capital cities are. Sacramento is a great place to get around in if you do not have a car. Which is important if you enjoy the “green scene” like I do. It fits right in there with a nice walk through the scenic city itself. So walking is an option. Biking is available as well. If you need to there is a bus line that runs everywhere.

All of these things make for a very pleasant place to live if you can afford the cost of living there. Its crime level is low enough also that it makes a great place to raise a family. The politics of the place are very forward in they’re thinking. Many people are politically active in the local government.

If you choose to live there you should be ready to make a statement about what you believe in. My family enjoys that aspect best about Sacramento, California. The wine country there definitely is my favorite part. You can decide what you think about it for yourself.
